Description

Dunham Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 (750ml)

James Suckling: 93 Points

Blackcurrants, dried herbs, chili chocolate and hazelnuts on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, polished tannins. Integrated spice notes, layered with dark fruit and leaves. Delicious and balanced. Better in two or three years.

Jeb Dunnuck: 92 Points

A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% each of Merlot and Malbec, and the balance Petit Verdot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon XXIII sports a deep purple color as well as classic Cabernet notes of cassis, plums, tobacco leaf, and Asian spices. This rich, medium to full-bodied red offers ripe tannins, notable overall balance, and beautiful purity of fruit. It’s going to keep for 15-20 years in cold cellars.

Wine Spectator: 88 Points

Compact and trim, with medium-bodied black cherry and dusky spice flavors that finish with dry tannins. Best after 2021. 1,488 cases made. — TF

Vinous: 88 Points

Bright red-ruby. Dark berries, licorice, plum and tobacco leaf on the nose. Plump and easygoing; not roasted but its berry and tobacco flavors could use more verve and definition. I preferred the 2016 release. A very easygoing wine with modest sweetness, a soft dusting of tannins and lingering hints of licorice and herbs. But shows a bit more stuffing and energy than the 2017 Trutina blend.
